Shower Doors

The shower door outlet at BVX Home Supply holds shower doors from closeout and liquidation stock, with a grade shown on each listing and pickup by appointment at the Paterson, New Jersey warehouse. A door has to match the opening it closes, so measure the opening before you choose one.

How do you measure for a shower door?

Measure the opening's width in three places: along the curb, at the middle and at the top. Then measure the wall height, which must exceed the door, and hold a level to each side wall and the curb to find any gap. Compare all three widths with the door's listed dimensions.

Sliding or pivot: which shower door fits your bathroom?

A sliding door suits a tight bathroom because its panels glide along a track instead of swinging out, so it needs no swing room. A pivot door swings outward on pivot points and works like a regular door, so it needs clear floor in front of the shower.

Door type How it opens Measure or confirm
Sliding Panels glide along a track The three widths, and what the track sits on
Pivot Swings outward on pivot points Clear floor in front, and which side it opens from
Bathtub door An assembly installed on the lip of or immediately surrounding a bathtub The tub's length wall to wall above the rim

What to check on a shower door at pickup

Check each glass panel's corners and edges for chips and its face for scratches. Confirm every part the listing names, such as rollers or hinges, handle, seals and track, is in the cartons, and count the cartons against the listing. The CPSC's Safety Standard for Architectural Glazing Materials, 16 CFR Part 1201, covers shower doors and enclosures and bathtub doors and enclosures.

Every door here also appears in Showers. See the bathroom range for the room around it, the measuring guide for the route in, and the pickup planning guide for a glass load.

Frequently asked questions

What safety standard covers shower door glass?

The CPSC's Safety Standard for Architectural Glazing Materials, 16 CFR Part 1201, covers shower doors and enclosures and bathtub doors and enclosures. It aims to reduce unreasonable risks of death or serious injury when glazing breaks from human contact. Check the specific listing for the glass type.

What if my shower opening is wider at the top than at the bottom?

Write down all three widths and the level readings, then compare them with the door. A door fits only when every width suits the sizes on its listing. Check the listing for what opening it fits, and if the numbers do not match, measure again and look at a different door.

Does a shower door made for a stall fit a bathtub?

Check the listing, because a bathtub door is its own product. It is installed on the lip of the tub, so measure the tub's opening and compare it with a door listed for a tub, not with one listed for a stall.

Which side should a pivot shower door open from?

Choose by where the toilet or the sink stands, so the door swings clear of both. A pivoting door can be configured to open from the left or the right, so check the listing for whether this particular door can be set either way before you buy it.
